Help: Looking for Tutorials on converting 3d animation models for 3d printing

Hey. I'm looking to any tutorials on the basics of converting a 3d model designed for 3d animation, for 3d printing.

Specifically a friend is working on a sci-fi short film. He has a space ship model already. I'm looking for any tuts on the process of making manifold, & fixing common issues for 3d printing prep.
