Retraction: Well Done Niantic!

About 15 minutes into gen 2, the servers seemed to be completely overun; catching or spinning pokestops, and then shortly afterwards logging on at all, became impossible. Elation to disappointment in short order. I feared for the mall events that have been planned for today/tomorrow. However...

...about 45 minutes later they were back up and working well, which must have been Niantic's fast response kicking in, rather than everyone giving up on gen 2. So - having posted a badly worded 'I'm upset' report earlier - I now have to eat humble pie and praise Niantic for being on the case [often fixing a problem in timely fashion is more impressive than not having one in the first place?], and for doing a great job with the code to really improve the game playing experience. Some of the pokemon moves (in the wild - not movesets) are really wonderful, and pretty much across the board the game mechanics are really well tightened up. No idea if what i have managed to catch will prove to be any use for anything, and what the new movesets will be like in action (ice shard/avalanche & air slash/future sight look 'interesting', but I may be wrong?), but thank you.
