GBF stats for nerds from Developers Summit 2017 Japan
During the Developers Summit Japan this year, devs from the Granblue team revealed some behind the scenes facts.
Now these stats and facts might only be interesting to you if you are a programmer, developer or advanced hobbyist. I have a development background so I found them pretty interesting and figured I would share them.
Most of this info comes from live tweets from during the talk at the conference.
- The team has a bot that watches and scrapes Twitter for certain keyword related to issues (such as lag) to notify the dev team
- GBF has thousands of servers, most of which are kept in-house to reduce bandwidth cost
- GBF runs on a LAMP stack for the base game and static data
- GBF uses node.js for all the realtime interaction
- GBF serves 10000 SQL queries per second
- GBF serves 80000 HTTP requests per second
- Daily log files are roughly 5TB
- 4.8TB/day text logs for access log, action log, battle log, SQL log
- 0.2TB/day for insert logs transactions, cash transactions, item logs
- Logs are kept for a long time and usually not deleted. Logs are stored on Amazon S3 servers and compressed after a few months. They plan to move logs to a cheaper storage solution in the future
- GBF servers run at a constant 160% CPU usage
- All GBF servers use NVMe SSDs and Fusion-IO drives
- They said they prefer to rely on older, proven technology for uptime and stability rather than messing around with new tech
- They have realtime(?) heatmaps of where the game is being played: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C4w4RSxUEAAQVYl.jpg:large
