Can you get HSV2 by kissing someone who has HSV2?

Im a bit of a hypochondriac and have scared myself from even kissing my boyfriend.

If he is infected with HSV2 but never had genital sores nor cold sores on the lips, can he hypothetically transfer HSV2 to me by kissing?
