Explain why the Titan X isn't a pointless graphics card.

The Titan X is extremely more expensive than the 1080 and 1070 yet is outperformed by it. It is simply a 980ti with less vram. There is no reason to spent the outrageous price on this video card. If you need it for a specific workstation you would just buy a quadro which is also made by nvidia. It seems very out of place in the lineup of high end graphics card and its price for the measly performance is laughable. I just want to know why this card is even on the market. Is there any reason a consumer would actually need the titan x over any other card?
