What is the canon status of Thrawn right now, with legends discarded yet a new novel based on him coming out?

Additionally - does anyone have a clue where I can get a Thrawn trilogy kindle copy in the UK, or at the least new (rather than secondhand) paperbacks?

I'm looking to start reading the EU, and even if no longer canon, I've heard so many good things about this trilogy.
