Keto and Parkinsons Disease... any info?

My mum has been recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease (68 yo). My father has done some research in regards to Ketogenic diets reversing symptoms. I was curious as to whether anyone on here had heard anything about it?

I've seen articles pop up with it as well! Also with marijuana treatment showing pretty awesome control of symptoms. And there is another one using music during ambulation. All three seem to be pretty promising treatments. From what I understand the keto macros for neurological symptom control are a little different than some newer recs. 70%fats, 25% proteins, 5%carbs I believe

Edit: you can check r/ketoscience as well. Good luck!!

Anecdotal evidence of marijuana controlling the symptoms of Parkinson's:

My best friend's father-in-law has what is essentially debilitating Parkinson's. He was given brownies with marijuana baked into them and completely took away the shaking for HOURS. Definitely worth looking into OP.

marijuana treatment

Great, now if I can only get my old man to start to look at this stuff, instead of taking his standard old republican stance of weed == bad.

I'm sorry to hear. Have a look at autoimmune protocol. There is quite a bit of anecdotal evidence of successes.

Cheers for that. Yeah I'll look into it :)

Three best things to do for Parkinson's: Exercise, diet, and (try to) sleep

The best thing we have found to delay Parkinson's is Exercise. I love my Rock Steady Boxing class. 3x a week. 90 minute classes with 15 stretching, 60 minute work out, 15 minute post stretch.

Eat Sensible. Keto if possible, very least try to avoid all processed meals, lots of fruits and vegetables. Cut out sugar and pasta/bread. Two years ago I was at 300# (didn't get on the scale), but slowly have changed my lifestyle and eating habits. Currently at 245#, waist dropped from 44 to 38 inches. Feeling better, have more energy. No longer thinking "candy bar" for an energy snack (glass of water works, if still hungry an apple).

Sleep. Ever elusive. I would sleep about three hours a night, if I am working out I get about five hours of sleep. I'd love eight, but not happening.

Do stop over at r/Parkinsons place for those with Parkinson's and family and friends.

Jimmy Moore's podcasts on this topic are worthwhile: http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/?s=Alzheimer&submit.x=20&submit.y=14

I just heard Thomas Seyfried talk about this a bit, on YouTube. I think it was a talk on autophagy and cancer, but he mentioned Parkinson as well.
