As I cross this desert sea

As I cross this desert sea

Its endless shore of eternal light

I wonder where it is you've been

And when the day might turn to night

 

So my feet burn with every step

My back raw and blistered from the sun

And at my front, a shadow falls

In a shape I can't outrun

 

Each step of mine a step of yours

Dark curls fighting with the breeze

This slender shadow figure holds

All the doors and all the keys

 

Still in this hellish world, I walk

As you glide across the sand

Your figure growing ever slender

How much more can you withstand?

 

And as I walk I smile now

Because I know you're almost through

And in your shade, I will bathe

If it's the last thing I do
