Wayhomework Artist #4 - Flakes (SELF homework edition)
Hey guys,
My name is Will, aka Flakes. Most of you probably don’t know me, but Wayhome seems like such an amazing experience that I really wanted to get involved with the community to hear everyone’s stories and introduce myself. I can’t even begin to describe how excited I am to play this festival and meet a bunch of new homies.
A little info about me as a person: I’ve been playing music for most of my life, starting as a classical pianist, transitioning to jazz for awhile, and landing on electronic music. I’m currently in my last semester of studying electronic production and design at Berklee, and i’m excited to get out into the “real world”. I also like pizza, skiing, and Super Smash Brothers Melee for the Nintendo Gamecube.
To be completely honest, i’m still heavily in the process of finding out who I am as an artist. I put my first EP out in 2015 which included songs like Palace and Whacked Out, and then took the entirety of 2016 off to write music. Recently, my songs have taken more of a R&B/Hip-Hop/Future Bass vibe. My newest song Onward somehow got way more attention than I was expecting, and is part of the reason I’m getting to play at Wayhome. Some of my influences are Mura Masa, Dirty Loops, What So Sot, Brasstracks, Lido, and Tennyson.
Because I love you guys (and because I don’t wanna look hella lame for having only a couple of songs online) here’s some previews of new stuff i’m working on, Clouds and [Nostalgia] (https://soundcloud.com/flakesproject/nostalgia/s-mZYbB). I’ll keep these up for a couple of days so you can guys can get a better sense of my vibe. I really hope you like my music, and please hit me up if you have any questions or just wanna talk! I’d really like to learn more about the experience of this festival and about all of you.
EDIT: as u/5emilygrace pointed out, I totally forgot to include social media links for those interested! you can find me at Spotify, Soundcloud, Facebook, and Insta.
