For Oscar
When I watch you
I'm enamoured.
It's like you're flowers
That I reach out to touch
But my hands hit
the store front windows.
I see patrons come and go
Continuing about their days
Consuming bouquets and terracotta
Without a second thought
About how bad it hurts
To really see the colours.
When I watch you
I see my reflection
Translucent with rejection
And consequences.
I'm not good enough
To smell the flowers anyway.
