Idea for programmers: you could write a time-delay password manager, which would be useful for users of filtering software
Here's an idea for all you enterprising programmers out there.
You could write a time-delay password-safe app.
Say that someone has a porn filter. They've set a password on the filter. But they can log in and disable the filter anytime.
They could install Pluckeye and configure it to require a time delay before any settings change takes effect. But Pluckeye doesn't yet work on cellphones or tablets. (Source.)
Like u/jd158ug points out near the bottom of his web-filtering advice post, they could write a 50-word passphrase on an index card and lock the card in their car trunk. But that's low-tech and a bit boring.
My idea: a time-delay password-vault app. The user chooses some number of minutes, hours, or days in advance. To be able to see a password (e.g. their filter password), they must request it that far in advance.
Now you have my idea. And you got it for free! You can take it and use it to write an app. Then you could sell the app and maybe make some money.
Thoughts?
Edit
Actually, here's an easier idea. You could write to the author of your favorite password manager, and send in a feature request. You could ask them to add this feature.
This would work best if you use a password manager which is still under active development.
If your feature request is publicly viewable online, please reply below and provide us with a link. If you post your feature request on Facebook or an issue-tracking system, it will probably be publicly-viewable. If you email it, it won't.
