Do you have a favorite pen?

Do you have a favorite pen or does anything work for you? Do you go out of your way to get it (ordering it, going to the store) or just pick it up (or swipe it from the office supply closet :P)?

I really like the look and feel of Zebra Z-Grip ballpoint pens. I hate that Amazon makes them add-on items but I just found out that if you preorder a video game you can have an add-on item ship with it! Persona 5 next week and my pens this week if the shipping is correct!

EDIT: Here's the Amazon page if anyone's interested https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001BZ6ZN4/ref=od_aui_detailpages01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

EDIT: I was just at the store and had to swing by their pen section after all these posts.

I like the Pilot G-2. Man, it's so comfortable and smooth for writing.

I like the classic Bic (preferably black, I hate blue ink). There was a time Bic pens were all awful, but now they are very comfortable and you can use them until the last drop of ink. Also, Pilot pens.

Edit: I remember middle school when I was obsessed with gel pens and super jealous of the girls who had Stabilo pen packs haha

My work uses the classic Bic but I lose caps so I prefer retractable pens.

The Pilot Metropolitan fountain pen. I love the metropolitan, for the price it is an amazing pen. I have a hand issue that causes pain when I write, so I love how I need to use little to no pressure with the Metropolitan

Off topic, but what's it like being a synesthete? Are you born like that or does it develop?

As far as I know I was born with it, I always remember having it. If I recall correctly from the research done on me, they really don't know how it develops in a person. There are alot of theories but no real answer. And The best way I would describe it, is that every sound, every pitch, every audible sensation is a paint stroke

That sounds like an amazing way to experience life!

I like Bic Crystal and a pen that I think is called ErichKrause Megapolis. I can get them at the store very easily. I usually write with black, but I like the blue Bic Crystal more than a black one...

I love most Pelikan fountain pen.

Is writing with a fountain pen different than ballpoint pens?

1
schorxg•

It's completely different. You have more line variation with fountain pens and writing with them is smoother in my opinion.

Can you recommend any for first-timers?

The Lamy Safari is a great fountain pen for beginners, it also is a very cheap fountain pen.

Beautiful pen, writes great.

Not really but I have a pencil at work that I hand drilled a screw all the way through without breaking the pencil. I then wrapped it in that curly plastic cable wrap stuff. It's pretty dope.

That sounds really cool. Any chance for a picture?
I really like the Sharpie Liquid Graphite pencil

Pilot Frixion is my fav., erasable ink, I spend a lot of time exploring the stationary section of any store that I go to, so yeah pens are kinda a hobby.

I got a pen from my philosophy teacher in college, we all did - I liked using that pen, but it ran out of ink, which is a shame. I think it was a "jetstream" pen? It worked pretty well either way.

u/analogcanvas mentioned a uniball jestream? Was that it?

When I google images that, some of the pens that come up look like the one I had, so I guess so.

I keep a journal, it's a moleskine that had Batman on the cover. I bought a flat pen that just slides onto the cover of it. Out of all the pens I've used, it's my favorite. It writes really smoothly.

Well, yes. But I try not to get too attached, because pens are easy to lose, after all.

I used to love the Pilot G-2 but had a lot of issues with the ink not drying fast enough. I'm writing and taking notes all day at work so I needed something that can dry fast enough to keep up and I do not like using ballpoint pens. I started using the Papermate Inkjoy which I really enjoyed for a while, until I had issues with the pen skipping after halfway through and then just dying with plenty of ink left in the cartridge. I bought 2 different packs and still had the same issue. Now I'm a huge fan of the Uni-ball 207 Signo, especially in blue. I still wish it dried faster, but I love the feel when writing. I also like the Uni-ball Elite and how the colors look black, but I don't like pens with a cap since retractable pens are a lot easier to take out of my pocket and use at a moment's notice while one-handed. I've also stuck pens with the cap off in my shirt pocket by accident and ruined a couple shirts that way. I would love to hear some suggestions since I like trying out different pens!
