What did your "fucking around" in the gym look like and what does your current regiment look like now that you've become disciplined/consistent?

I see a lot of comments here about people that fucked around in the gym for a while before becoming consistent and serious. As someone guilty of fuck-around-itis for some time now, I'm curious what y'alls perception of consistency looks like.

Ego lift, max everything or go home. Also did not give a shit about form. Nowadays I just roll with 5/3/1, best choice I ever made.

Used to start with intense cardio for 15-20 minutes. Then fuck around with bodyweight workouts and misc machines. Absolutely hated it.

First disciplined routine was SS. Now it's Wendlers 5/3/1 BBB. Maybe cardio once or twice a week, never before lifting. Now I love working out.

5/3/1 was my favorite program in college. I enjoyed the PHAT program as well, but I loved the strength gains I made with Wendlers. I had my second meniscectomy last year and I'm still working around it. Kind of sucks

I'd do like 10 heavy triples at like 9 RPE every single workout. Fucking ridiculous intensity and volume. No program, just kill myself with heavy weight every session. Either that or 10-15 heavy singles with near max weight.

Lol "definitely roids" explains it.

I might've actually recovered from it if I'd been on roids. Sadly, I just ended up getting injured.

Circuit calisthenics. 5 sets with 5 exercises in each set. Nonstop, maybe 45 minutes.

Now it's Antraniks Rings Routine

Your typical #chestnarms, ^back, ^^legs workout. Shit mobility and flexibility. Gave me some nice injuries and crap posture. I currently follow a ABA, BAB type routine. A day centers around front squat, B centers around deadlift. I however still battle some problems of the past. Right knee, but it gets better by the day.

My routine is no different when I did and I didn't mess around in the gym. Now, I just don't walk to random places and do random machines and exercises for like 10 seconds and walk around near the end of my workouts looking for something to do.

I started with 1 mile run, hit the machines for all the beauty muscles, curls all day baby. Looked at the squat racks, walked by them and said "good enough". Did some cool shoulder lifts that i saw a jacked dude doing, got a shoulder injury and therapy!

I'm doing a beginner program now working on form and diet/bulk. Phrak's Grey Skull LP Variant, M-W-F, i just add 'active recovery' on Tuesdays and Thursdays, usually a 3 mile run once i week for cardiovascular health.

Fuckarounditis is real and dangerous, get serious bruh! Good luck!

Doing the wiki PPL routine without really following the progression plan. Did all the lifts and occasionally increased weight, but it was basically just organized fucking around.

Daily/weekly progression isn't that important though. Some beginners barely progress every two weeks. Although, it's mainly a diet thing most of the time tbh.

Old self made program:

Day 1) Chest, back, biceps

Day 2) Legs, shoulders, triceps

Go to the gym 3 or 4 days a week. Do whatever rep/set ranges I felt like. Gains were ok but by no means optimal

Currently doing Candito 6 week, first program I've ever been on, and it's definitely superior. You know what you have to do before you even get in the gym each day, and you know what days you have to go on so you're committed to going 4-5 days a week.

Not having a progression plan and not eating to match my goals. I was spinning my wheels until I started recording my lifts, planning when to up weights/reps, and doing proper cuts/bulks.
