I'm getting an itch to get back into Rimworld, but I would rather wait for the new update to jump back in. Do we know anything about when it is expected?

This is the last official update about it. The main highlight is bug fixing and performance improvements. Extra content will include stuff to do with the world map to encourage more caravans. The economy will be rebalanced. Raising animals for meat will be rebalanced.

Short answer no. There was a question about if it would be coming out sooner as a bug fix or waiting to add more features. More features won so I would not expect it soon. I personally doubt we will see it in April.
As testers have been chosen, it shouldn't take that long. So my guess is in April

Like everyone else is told in the pretty much daily posts asking 'when will A17 come out', it'll get here when it get here. :P
Not soon, as there was a poll on whether A17 should be released earlier, but be mostly bugfixes/performance improvements/etc, or released later, but have more new content, and people chose later with more new content.
That is fair enough; I'd rather wait for content anyway
