What removing my SPGs would cost WarGaming: 101.5M credits, 4.7M Free Exp, and 25k Gold
After the 'WoT: WG Devs Considering the Removal of the Artillery Class' Armored Patrol post, I decided to figure out exactly what it would cost WG to compensate me, in the event that they actually DO remove all the SPGs from the game.
Methodology
Experience - Some components are reused as you move through a tech tree branch, therefore I only used the first instance of each component towards the calculation of 'Experience Spent' column.
For example, the 'Q.F. 6-in. Gun Mk. V' is the top gun for the British Tier 8 FV207, and you spend 20,800 experience to unlock it. That same gun is the mid-level gun on the British Tier 9 FV3805, and thus you don't spend another 20,800 experience to unlock it--it's already unlocked.
Also, I was able to calculate the amount of Experience NOT spent due to already unlocked components. That number is shown in the 'Exp Saved' column.
Silver - Tank/Component - I used the component cost of the Elited version of each tank, thus ignoring the cost of earlier components, and which have all been sold (I sell them as soon as I mount the next component).
I also keep all my tanks, so even though a similar radio may be used on multiple tanks, I therefore have one of the same radio for EACH of those tanks.
Note: Seven tanks were purchased at a discount during the On-Track promotions. WG maintains the discounted price you paid for the tank, and would presumably only reimburse me the price I actually paid [to see the price information, hover over the tank itself in the Tech Tree, and it will display the 'MSRP' and the discounted price (if any) you received]. The numbers in the 'Elite Price' column below include the MSRP of each tank, and then any discounts are subtracted at the bottom of the 'Total' column.
Silver - Equipment cost - In the event of removal, WG will have to decide between reimbursing SPG drivers for their mounted equipment, or moving that equipment into the Armory. However, some equipment is exclusive to SPGs (Large/Medium Artillery Shell Rammers) and would have to be reimbursed.
I'm going to assume that WG would prefer to move the non-SPG specific equipment to the Armory vs reimbursal.
I have therefore only listed the SPG-specific equipment cost in the 'SPG Equip' column below.
In the event that WG decided to simply reimburse me for all my mounted NON-arty specific equipment, they would owe me an additional 48,250,000 credits (NOT a typo. I equip almost ALL my tanks with Binos, GLD, and Gun Rammer, except where vents are available).
Crews
My assumption is that in the event of SPG removal, Wargaming would simply reset the Nation, Trained Tank and Class of each SPG crew member (similar to how mission reward female crew members initially have no trained Tank/Class/Nation), but leave the crew member at whatever percent/skill/perk level they were at (at that point in time). Resetting of the crew member Qualification (Gunner, Commander, etc.) is less certain in my opinion.
Garage Slots
I don't know if Wargaming records the price paid for Garage slots, but since you can't sell them (like you can with tanks), I'm going to guess that they don't. Wargaming would likely leave me with empty garage slots versus removing them from my account. Thus I don't think they'd owe me any gold for Garage Slots.
Barracks
Because I keep all my tanks, I typically leave all crews in those tanks, so I have not purchased many barracks slots. If WG were to remove the tanks, I think they'd be forced to give me additional barracks slots, otherwise I'd have no place to keep those reset crew members.
Permanent Camouflage
I have purchased permanent, three-season camo on every SPG I own. WG is unlikely to want to 'bank' camo, so they will likely give me back the purchase price that I paid. That gold amount is shown in the table below, in the 'Camo/Purch Cost' column.
Permanent Emblems
I have purchased one permanent emblem for my FV304 tank ("BERT"), and expect that WG would reimburse me the purchase price of 90 gold (and that amount is included in the British row, 'Camo/Purch Cost' column).
Premium Tanks
I purchased both the Sexton I and the leFH18B2 tanks. I'd expect Wargaming to reimburse me the gold I spent on the Sexton and its permanent camouflage, and the gold equivalent of the money I spent on the leFH18B2 and it's permanent camouflage. That gold amount is shown in the table below, in the 'Camo/Purch Cost' column.
And finally, the numbers:
| Nation | # Tanks | Elite Price | SPG Equip | Total | Crewmembers | Exp Spent | Exp Saved | Camo/Purch Cost |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| American | 11 | 16,275,260 | 3,900,000 | 20,175,260 | 57 | 968,190 | 67,550 | 4,575 |
| German | 11 | 16,887,910 | 3,900,000 | 20,787,910 | 56 | 911,025 | 110,255 | 4,575 |
| Russian | 10 | 18,571,460 | 4,000,000 | 22,571,460 | 51 | 1,051,035 | 256,555 | 4,575 |
| British | 9 | 16,551,350 | 3,400,000 | 19,951,350 | 46 | 920,335 | 116,630 | 4,140 |
| --Sexton I | 1 | 300,000 | 300,000 | 6 | 1,475 | |||
| French | 9 | 16,553,820 | 3,400,000 | 19,953,820 | 41 | 918,675 | 57,810 | 4,050 |
| --leFH18B2 | 1 | 300,000 | 300,000 | 4 | 1,875 | |||
| Less Discounts | 2,499,600 | |||||||
| Totals | 52 | 84,839,800 | 19,200,000 | 101,540,200 | 261 | 4,769,260 | 608,800 | 25,265 |
- Note: The Russian Exp Spent is 121k higher than the average of the other nations due to an extra Tier 7 tank.
- Note: I have not yet purchased the Tier 9 or Tier 10 Russian SPGs, but will certainly have done so before the end of April 2017.
I've posted a PDF file and CSV file where I list the EXP and Elite Silver cost for all 52 SPGs.

The look on your face when you have to play actual tanks would be worth it by itself.
