Can someone with knowledge of lua possibly write a script for Cheat Engine? Could really smooth out performance.

Credit goes to

for this find. It really does feel A LOT better.

**NOTE: After testing this doesn't seem to provide any noticeable benefit over playing at standard speed but feel free to try setting the game to 0.5, however this will break certain parts of the game like cutscenes playing at half speed, break animation LODs and possibly other unwanted effects. Still please look at the information below about possibly creating a dynamic script to adjust speed hack levels below. **

"Seriously, no joke you can get the game to run in 60 fps and the game runs at normal speed. It is easy to do. Use the recomended settings you find for BotW, Cemu 1.7.4c, the 19k shader pack is optional, use both cemuhook 3.10 AND cheat engine speed hacks set to .5. You get 60 fps and gameplay is not a double speed.

Here is a video showing it off

And another!

This doesn't have enough testing, but so far in the first area has pretty good results, here are my specs

  • i5 4690k
  • GTX 1080
  • 8gb ddr3 ram

It does drop down to about 45-50 fps at some points, but it is much better than the 20 fps I was getting without this. Also in shrines it stays at a smooth 60."

This is one of the best performance tips I've seen beyond what we already know. Unfortunately when the game dips it slowwws down hard.

My idea is to write a script to detect performance changes in fps in cemu and adjust the speed hack value accordingly. Apparently you can write lua scripts to change the cheatengine speed hack value. The lua script would need to detect when cemu drops below 60fps and then increase the speed hack value to 1.1. It would also need to revert back to speed hack value 0.5 when performance stabilizes again. Can anyone help out? I'm not too familiar with how to implement a lua script.

Here is an example I grabbed from the CheatEngine forum (this is for using a hotkey though):

speed = 1.0

function IncSpeed(hotkey) speed = speed + 1 speedhack_setSpeed(speed) end

function DecSpeed(hotkey) speed = speed - 1 speedhack_setSpeed(speed) end

function ResetSpeed(hotkey) speed = 1.0 speedhack_setSpeed(1.0) end

function SetHotKey(func, hotkey) local objectHotKey = createHotkey(func, hotkey) generichotkey_setKeys(objectHotKey, hotkey) generichotkey_onHotkey(objectHotKey, func) end

function onOpenProcess(processid) SetHotKey(IncSpeed, VK_F2) SetHotKey(DecSpeed, VK_F3) SetHotKey(ResetSpeed, VK_F4) end

local aalist = getAutoAttachList() stringlist_add(aalist, "UT3.exe")

EDIT: So i'm not sure if this would be a script if it has to constantly listen for changes. Is that still considered a "script"? By the way this is for BOTW forgot to mention that in title :(.

EDIT 2: So I may have jumped the gun on claiming this "the best fix evar!!" I think it was just dumb luck I was trying it in an area that was hardly getting any performance hits so it surprised me. Further testing showed that there was very little difference running with 0.5 hack or not. Sorry guys! Still, I do believe this thread could be very relevant if we can implement a script to "throttle" game speed in cheatengine for BOTW.
