A Beginners Guide Part 2: Levelling, Promoting and Upgrading Characters
Because my last guide seemed to help people, and I have noticed confusion with the levelling of officers, I thought I would create a part 2 to explain these.
Levelling Characters
First I will cover levelling characters and the ways to do so.
The first and least effective way to level is completing missions. It is very simple and better yet its free, but unfortunately it is slow and you will sooner find the game out levelling you first.
The second method is the use of xp items to feed to your officer. They arent easy to get a lot of easily and dont do much for high level characters so again it isnt recommended.
The best way to level an officer is by feeding them other units, basically sacrificing and merging them into youre desired officer. This is done by using the Train option. The good news is you get a lot of experience from this, the bad news is that it can cost a lot of coins and you need to use a lot of officers to sacrifice. Officers with higher ☆ rarity will give more experience. Officers that have been levelled will also give more experience. You will often here the units used for levelling your important officers as fodder.
You will gain bonus experience for using units of the same colour, for example using red units to train a red unit etc.
The cost of using officers to upgrade your selected officer is related to their ☆ rank. The higher the ☆ rank, the more expensive it gets.
Promoting Character ☆ rarity
This is something people seem to be misunderstanding.
To promote an officer to the next ☆ rank you need to fulfil 2 conditions.
- Reach the current max level
- Have the correct amount of same rarity officers
To get 1☆ to 2☆:
- Officer needs to be level 10
- You need to have 1, 1☆ unit to sacrifice
To get 2☆ to 3☆:
- Officer needs to be level 20
- You need to have 2, 2☆ units to sacrifice
To get 3☆ to 4☆:
- Officer needs to be level 30
- You need to have 3, 3☆ units to sacrifice
To get 4☆ to 5☆:
- Officer needs to be level 40
- You need to have 4, 4☆ units to sacrifice
To get 5☆ to 6☆:
- Officer needs to be level 50
- You need to have 5, 5☆ units to sacrifice
Promoting an officer does not return them to level 1, they stay at the same level. The officers you use to sacrifice any level, you do not need to make them max level like the unit you want to promote.
Upgrading an Officers Skills
There are 2 predetermined ways to upgrade officer skills.
The first method is by promoting your officers ☆ rarity.
- 2☆-4☆ unlock character attacks
- 5☆ unlocks a characters true musou
- 6☆ unlocks their final attack and improved leader skill
To upgrade character attacks/abilities you need to fuse the same officer into your selected officer. This is in the Train section.
For example if you have a Green Lu Bu, you can fuse any type of Lu Bu into him to increase the power of his attacks. This is important in making you more powerful. Remember, it does not have to be the same colour or rarity, just the same officer. The higher ☆rarity the officer, the more skill points earned.
I hope this has helped, I will answer any questions and continue to create these if people find them helpful. I do apologise in advance for spellings and grammar, this was done on mobile this time :(
