Advanced Orichi combos?

I've watched countless videos of advanced orochi combos and found nothing but simple move cancels. I've been having difficulty improving my orochi game and usally learn by watching. Anyone have any tips or advanced guides/combos that are badass?

Orochi is extremely limited in what he can do. Other than double top light, zone, and the occasional Storm Rush if you're lucky, there's really not much else viable for him. It's the life of a non-top tier; take your tools and push them as far as you can go, really. Is there anything specifically that you notice about your gameplay that needs improvement?

My issue is lack of moves I feel very limited to what I could do.

You could incorporate deflects in your gamestyle for style points :D

They may not be viable but gosh darnit do they make you look cool.

If you're looking to do more, unfortunately most characters stick to a couple of viable ones and throw the rest out the window. Of all the ones I've played, I'd say that Nobushi actually has the best overall use of her movelist, despite much of it being unsafe.

As Orochi, you just really have to stick to your guns and use the limited tools you have. Elevate them further with feints, know your parry/out of stamina punishes, and get into your opponent's head. Without being able to do all of this, Orochi is hard pressed to do anything substantial.

If you're willing to put thought into it, Berserker is a ton of fun and really rewards you for the effort you put in. I have been jumping between Berserker for trying hard and Orochi for kinda relaxing, since I know Orochi has basically no good matchups so I don't feel pressured to do well.

That's my suggestion. Kinda hard to go back and forth since sometimes I try to feint lights on Orochi or I swing heavy overheads after gb on Berserker, but those are just small muscle memory blocks.

Watch praise the sun's streams Also tonight I'd let you know since orochi's move set is very constricted fainting and mixups are your best bet what I like to do is a gain into gb, top light or zone Also you should know that the max damage out of a gb is a top heavy and that if you gb someone that is out of stamina you can throw them to your left and throw out a heavy without moving your cursor then throw out a second heavy for max damage

Orochi just doesn't really have any automatic mixups, so you need to get creative.

Orochi gets 2 guaranteed top heavies on an out-of-stamina knock down. Before you GB the opponent, switch your guard to top (for some reason switching your guard after throwing makes the opponent get up faster) and let 2 heavies fly for some seriously insane damage.

I find that after landing double top lights, if you feint side, and go right back to top light, it has a decent success rate with low risk and huge damage potential.

Use Stormrush stance as a pressure move. Just hold the stance until the opponent makes a move and react accordingly:

  • Whiffed move of any kind = let the attack rip
  • If they're close enough, go into a feint-GB to catch their dodge.
  • If they do nothing, let the attack go then immediately feint. See how they react, if they try to parry it, parry their attempt.

Another neat little mind game you can pull is to cancel Stormrush into a dash-forward light. This catches a lot of people off-guard because of the ground it covers alone.

The rest is just honing basic skills: Getting your Counter GB's approaching 100% success rate, parrying and feinting your parries when the opponent feints their attack. Also, deflects are crazy useful if you can lock them down. I find it gets people flustered because nobody expects it.

Max out of stamina punish you can throw them to the side and get two free heavies

The heavy deflect is not guaranteed against any class, but it's used so rarely that you can often hit an opponent (even a good one) with it while they're tripping out over the fact that you actually used it. Won't work more than once or twice against the same opponent, though, and as you get to higher levels it'll get less consistent.
