To build on this a little more, I feel as though the end of the first line and the entirety of the second line are redundant. Either use one or the other.

I could also be misinterpreting it in that saying "with no one to help" meaning that there is no one for you to help. I can also see it meaning that you are alone. Good start for a first poem.

I like the purpose of the poem, and the metaphor it invokes with Atlas and the weight we ourselves carry. However, I feel that it is too explicit in its description. The meaning of the poem is somewhat laid out and spoon fed to the reader, which at least to me diminishes its impact. Try to build on the Atlas metaphor, and near the end subtly make hints at the underlying message you want to send. Good start!

Okay, now I understand that this is you first piece, but you posted reqeusting feedback, and I don't want to give you false advice. I want you to look at every line in you poem?

how many times have you heard that? a bunch i bet. Try to find **new** ways to say this  
and this  
>I rely on no one but myself.  

and this  
>I do not let anyone in, as I fear it may hurt me.  

and this  
>I long to tell someone of how I feel  

and this  
>I long to tell someone of how I feel

and this  
>I am bound by my chains.  

I strongly, strongly encourage you to keep writing, but more importantly, keep reading new and exciting poetry (and old and exciting poetry). My first stuff was very similar (and had an atlas metaphor too)
