Rook Buff Suggestion (Meta Tweak & New Glaz Counter?)
Rook doesn't need much work, granted. Though his ability leaves something to be desired for the character.
SUGGESTION: additional shield load-out (similar to fuze)
What?! A shield operator on defense? Hear me out — Some ways this could be beneficial and add a slight shift in gameplay:
• Could crouch in corner on objective site to survive during a fuze siege of pellets
• Could challenge operators approaching through windows in rooms that leave little cover for defense
• Could look out of windows safely to draw fire from and reveal is the opposing team has a Glaz operator
• Could be a counter the Glaz + Smoke siege offering as a deterrent to push forward, draw fire while teammates seek cover, and provide location intel through pings Monty style
• In locations like 3rd floor on Favela for example, could oppose operators at either stairwell window or small hallway from door making some locations more viable for defending where they currently are not
• Would offer a tactical defensive standoff against monty pushes
• Could post in rooms that serve a tactical purpose but currently don't offer much opportunity for defense — not all site locations work out well for a defender to survive on-site, thus usually avoided from being picked (kids bedroom on house?)
• He could post above objective to challenge a push against hatch or fuze/buck/ash pushes on destructible floors above, stalling long enough to get backup an intel on whose pushing (plus, shied fuze vs shield Rook would kind of awesome to play out)
• Offense has an intel advantage currently — 10 drones, Monty pushes with pings, and the systematic destruction of all defensive cams (defense gets four cam options through Valk's cam and Echo's one drone which doesn't mark or allow for team viewing currently) A shield op being able to peak halls, windows, rooms for intel would be invaluable and add some much needed intel balance
OP? Not in my opinion:
• Many wouldn't trade Rooks primary weapon (headshot machine!)
• Would likely be played out situationally for specific site map strategies — no shield op is 100% pick rate (RIP classic Blackbeard)
• Shield mains on offense would finally have the opportunity to put some of those skill-sets to a defensive advantage but suffer some of the same pitfalls (pitfalls not referring to broken aspects, but gameplay ones such as reloading) Shield have pros and cons regardless of being on offense or defense
This would be a buff that falls in line with Rook as a character — armor, strength, slow speed. It makes sense. It adds an additional layer to the op to coordinate and help teammates other than …puts down armor.
What do you think?

One very minor point against, as the game isn't exactly a realism simulator (looking at you caveira and jackal) is that in general the shields used by attacking operators are blocking pistol caliber rounds and shotgun pellets. The only defender who has a rifle caliber weapon is Jager, and so ignoring him it makes some sense/sticks slightly with realism, because the real life shields they are modeled off of can't stop rifle rounds.
Good point! and likely why this hasn't been added in game thus far to any ops on defense.
