What's the official line on downgrading a Freenas 10 install to 9.10?

I get that the release has reverted to a preview- thanks for owning up to that. I'm reading the only way to rollback from Freenas 10 is to start fresh with a 9.10 install.

That can't be true, you must have a plan beyond simply nuke and start fresh for your loyal user base who trusted the release designation. Where's that plan?

EDIT: I had tried upgrading from my 9.10 but that would hang for hours at certain points. I ended up doing a fresh install as a result. Guess I'm hosed.

Can confirm that I just reactivated my 9.10.2 U2 boot environment and everything came up just fine.

From what I read, if you upgraded from 9.10, you can always revert back to that environment. If you did a fresh install, there is no downgrade. Gotta reinstall

If you upgraded your ZFS Pools, Wait until 9.10.3

Edit: Bolding to make it super apparent because the above is super important. You can't just revert if you've already upgraded and you can't downgrade the pool.

I just rolled back from an upgraded pool using Corral 10.0.4 to 9.10.2-U2 after I read this:

Good news! FreeBSD 11 only adds two feature flags: sha512 and skein for hashing and dedup. Most users will not have actually used these in any dataset, so they should still be marked as "enabled", so pools that were either upgraded or created in Corral will mostly just import in 9.10.2. If you actually used either of these feature flags, you most likely knew what you were getting yourself into.

Since I had issues getting kerberized nfs4 shares to work again I even wiped my boot disks and did a complete reinstall of 9.10 and imported the volume just fine (in hindsight my nfs4+kerberos problems were unrelated to a fresh installation as the problem persisted - this was the problem).

And so hours of setting up an stable environment got tossed out. Can't downgrade either cause the pools have been upgraded.

Whelp gotta wait and redo it. again

Will there be an option to migrate an upgraded FreeNAS 10 pool to 9.10.x? I performed a clean install of FreeNAS 10 since the upgrade path didn't work. Not too happy about the recent news, I'm even considering moving to UnRAID.

I think OP means from a fresh 10 install, as in he never initially upgraded from 9....

Yeah, I had tried to upgrade but it failed- ended up doing a fresh install. Guess that's that.

I'll just wait for 9.10.3 and do a fresh install.
