[Event] Achieving Autarky (Part 1)
In a brazen speech condemning the blockade of Eurasia by America and her allies, President Erasyl boldly stated..
These foolish pigs who try to silence us through economic means are as stupid as they are ugly. These so-called "leaders" are scared of our great nation, and for good reason. They know the potential that lies within our vast borders, and think that denying them to their people will change the course of our nation. They are wrong! By denying their leave, they are simply allowing them to flourish inside our own borders. It has become clear that the global community and American puppets will stop at nothing to destroy our nation, and it is only a matter of time before they take even more drastic action. Eurasia is one of the only nations on earth capable of self-sufficiency, and by the end of my term I will have achieved autarky for the great state of Eurasia.
Autarky: economic independence or self-sufficiency.
Achieving Autarky (Part 1)
As many know, Russia owns an estimated 33% of world resources. With the addition of Mongolia, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan, the EAF would own an approximate 37% to 42% of the world's resources, making it entirely possible to achieve economic self-sufficiency. For example, by 2023 (IRL), Russia (would have) achieved complete agriculturally self-sufficient. The Eurasian Federation pumps all the oil and gas it'll ever need, and contains the largest holds of metal, minerals, livestock, coal, and timber in the world. It imports only in two significant sectors: fruits and automobiles. The goal will be reducing the EAF's foreign trade to less than 5% of total GDP (foreign trade contributed less than 4% to the USSR's total GDP.) These sanctions will simply force the EAF to develop a medicine sector, and cut fruit imports. Removing the EAF's raw resources from world trade will actually hurt most of Europe and Asia.
Centralization of Major Industries
The EAF's major industries are already centralized under SOE, such as GazProm and ALROSA, as these two are the largest oil and natural gas and mining companies within the federation. Centralizing food production is crucial to long term stability, and thus the Eurasian Food Bank will be formed. The EFB will be a state supervised organization under the Minister of Agriculture to ensure the distribution of food products and the stability of food production. The Eurasian Food Board will not be confiscating equipment from farmers, simply observing quotas and ensuring stable production and distribution throughout the Federation, and will cost an estimated $1.3 Billion a year with strong returns. Cheaper agricultural equipment will be made available to poorer regions such as lower Central Asia and Mongolia. Currently within the Province of Russia, forest land is not privately owned, but leased for logging purposes to certain companies. This will be reversed, and the Russian Far-east privatized and owned majority by the Eurasian Government, however large areas of land will be available to Eurasian Business owners. Selling any Siberian land to any enemy country will be prohibited in every way. The Forestry industry will be majority-owned by the Eurasian Government under a SOE. $2 Billion will be put yearly into further developing Eurasia's now centralized timber industry.
Developing Eurasia's Automobile Sector & Developing Roads
The Eurasian Federation's automobile is weak compared to how it should be, and transport throughout the Federation should be made easier through more road building programs. This will increase the amount of inter-Federation trade and provincial cooperation. Russia's Provincial Automobile sectors are already very strong, containing many successful automobile manufacturers such as Lada, AvtoVAZ, and GAZ. Nearly 700,000 people are employed in this sector in Russia alone. Kazakhstan's automobile industry has also grown significantly, employing nearly 90,000 workers, the Eurasian Government will be expanding this important sector with annual funds of $800 Million. Unfortunately, automobile industries in Mongolia and the other Central Asian provinces have been less than successful, and the Eurasian Government will be spending a total of $7 Billion over three years to jump start these provinces' automobile sectors, increase employment, and increase vehicle ownership across the Federation. A universal vehicle known as the Eurasian Civic will be widely produced in all these smaller provinces, as a universal cheap form of transport (much like the Nazi Beetle).
Eurasia will also be instituting major road building programs, mostly within Central Asia. A major road network in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan will be built and connected to improve transportation and work opportunities for the average citizen. The Eurasian Federation will be putting $5 Billion into these programs over the next 3 years, and we hope to have nearly 230,000 workers on the project on any given day. Once the three year period has ended, supervisors will enter and develop connection plans to other parts of the Federation.
Decreased Provincial Autonomy
The State Duma has approved measures to limit Provincial Autonomy in certain areas, such as economic regulation and provincial laws. Sweeping measures have legitimized Moscow District laws across the Federation, which include heightened monetary laws, decreased autonomous trade options, and separate policing, centralizing all Law Enforcement and Security under the Federal Security Service (FSB).
