wardrobe questions :)

I have never understood the predjudice against levis on the course, except that they can be uncomfortable. I have some burnt out pairs(no rips or foulness) that are comfortable as pajamas. lots of cc's wont let you near the club while wearing them. why the hell is this?

also, any suggestions on trick styles/brands of super comfy pants that are good for golf? and that wont get me banned from the cc?

My homecourse (rednecky par 3 on a lake) will allow anything that covers your dick. Don't fucking Bogart that joint though.

Good golf pants will always be more comfortable than playing in jeans. They're made for golf, after all. They wouldn't sell if they were shitty and uncomfortable.

As soon as it is above 50, I'm wearing shorts. They make some pretty good golf pants these days, but they will never be as comfortable as shorts.

I dunno what 50 is in regular degrees but yeah, I'm the same. But usually proper golf shorts too, they're really comfortable.

Did you(a Euro or Canadian) just concede that Fahrenheit is the regular scale to me(an American). Because this might be the first time in the history of reddit.

No, regular degrees is Celsius, I dunno what 50 is in Celsius, and I'm slightly offended you forgot Australia

Jeans tend to look trashy. I'm not saying that people who wear jeans are trashy, but they look marginally worse than golf pants. A country club puts a lot of money into the course and club to look pristine, so if the members don't do their part as well, it won't look nearly as nice.

There's also the adage of "respecting the course." The course is manicured and kept up to continue tradition and maintain a level of prestige. That quickly goes out the window if people are not wearing collared shirts and decent-looking pants.

That's why.

Edit: and to your second point, get good golf pants. They are insanely comfortable. Nike, UA, Adidas (my personal favorite), all have great fitting and comfortable clothes.

Yeah, not much to say. If you don't agree with the clubs rules, then don't join. Find a club that let's you play in jeans.

Mostly tradition. Jeans come from working class roots and people who wore jeans to work are not the type of people who would have been a member of a golf course. Shitty tradition, but expensive clubs don't want their members to feel like they're sharing their club with the great unwashed. For the second part, underarmour, adidas, ashworth, j lindberg. They all make super comfy stretch golf pants that will keep you cool as well.

Bonobos had some good ones too

Ralph Lauren had a sale where the current inventory was something like 40% off and if you spent $125 it was an additional 25-30% off. So $100 pants for $45 bucks a piece. Phenomenal deal, not sure if it's still going on, but I loaded up and am set for pants for awhile

hnnnnnnnnnnnnnng.

I love my Adidas clothes and their pants are ultra comfortable. I plan on wearing them to work this summer when it's hot as hell out. And you can get them for a decent price. They look good and you can find them for ~$30

There's a local course around here that I played a lot when I was just starting out that has the best dress code posted in the clubhouse: "All shirts must have sleeves". I don't think it's enforced.

I wear plain coloured levis for Golf. If they are plain coloured and you can't really tell they are denim you'll be fine.

Uniqlo do some good golf pants without the ridiculous prices of the golf brands.
