Wade Wilson
At the bottom of the pit, you see nothing. There is only darkness. The idea of hope has been torn out of the dictionary and you keep searching for the page.
A new face with a new name offers you a new solution, a new hope. When you don’t believe in any of the options previously offered to you, new is good. New has potential. You know nothing about new, so you don’t know doubt.
New means yes.
New means secrets. You leave those you love behind because you don’t know what’s going to happen and you don’t want them to worry. A mistake! They’re still going to worry, but now they’re in the dark. A common problem with secrets.
Another problem with new: unforeseen consequences. That new face with the new name was actually just a new jerk—and the new solution, well—
that worked, sort of.
Like a heroin addict can use to solve a lack of love, but lose those they love in the process. You are alive, but are you really living?
That was a trick question. You were at the bottom of the pit. You were going to die. The new gave you hope at a time when the word didn’t even exist for you. The new is not perfect, not ideal, not even moderately good. Yet, you got a second chance.
Maybe at the end, it’s not too bad.
