Question about ants from a noob

So I am getting my garden going, and I decided to make use out of some old bricks that the previous home owner left half buried in the tree line by using them as makeshift edging for my garden. They are those really old bricks that are red and have holes in them. Well, while I am putting these things down I noticed that there was some ant colonies living inside them. So the question is: Should I remove these bricks from the edge of the garden since they have all of these ants, or can these ants be good for my garden?

I've been posting about ants lately.

  1. I've been told ants are okay
  2. I've been told ants farm aphids and can cause difficulties

If you clean out the bricks, I don't see why you can't use them; try blasting them with some water.

I have been reading a lot of those post, and it pretty much goes exactly like that. You could also try to just place the bricks in buckets of hot water

Only exception is red ants. Those are the assholes of a garden. Vinegar and cinnamon without hesitation is a valid response.

Yeah I just didn't want to clean out the bricks if the ants had some benefit. No point in wasting active biomass if it has some use.

If there's one animal on earth you shouldn't worry about in any fashion it's ants.

That's not true, there's thousands of different types of ants. Some aren't exactly agreeable with humans.

Lol, I mean in terms of harming them and their population.
