The Current Prime Minister's Decision not to run in this year's election in Somalia has caused new political divides in the country. Due to previous corruption scandals and replacement of a large number of the members of parliament, the political makeup of Somalia has greatly shifted. New parties have formed and grown to dominance. These new parties are supporting candidates in the election.

New Somali Youth League

Many of the Younger members of the parliament who gained their seats after replacing old members have broken off and formed this new party, naming it to honor the first political party in the nation's history. Left wing Party, wants strong ties with other african nations and more corporation with EAC. Strong support from youth and educated professionals.

The Runta Party

The Party that had first supported the current prime minister, they are centrist party that wished to maintain strong ties to ally Bharat. The party name means “Truth” in Somali [m] at least according to google translate. Strong support from business professionals.

Insha’Allah

Made up of members of former Islamic conservative, sharia supporting party that had been in power before the current prime minister. They support a return to sharia law, and uniting all Somali people in surrounding nations into one Islamic Greater Somalia. The party name means [“God Wills”] (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Deus_vult) in Arabic. Support from people who lost power due to recent events.
