First timer looking for protips

Miraculously my day off actually coincides with alpha testing, so I've made sure the game is updated and I've set an alarm on my phone for 5 minutes before the test starts.

I'm looking for some basic advice from more experienced participants. More specifically, what do you wish you'd have known before your first time? Thanks in advance for any advice given!

Edit: It was canceled today. I guess I'll just play when it releases.
