Rant. I hate my admins. Tells me to do one thing. I do that thing. They undermine me doing that thing.
I work lunch for 2 grade levels during the day. Because I have a specialized certification, 4 year degree, and X thousand a year and the best use they could think of for me is an hour a day to babysit while they eat.

"Hey I need you to be more mean in the lunch room. " - - - actual thing they said
" um. Okay. "
Yesterday after having had 4 students last week do things like throw food and milk to each other, sometimes not closed containers, I sent one more student for doing the exact same thing. I escorted them down to the lunch detention room exactly as I have the other five for doing the exact same thing. Along the way I run across the person that asked me to be more mean to students. They say "hey what's going on here?"
I say "We've had another student throwing milk from table to table" and then continue to walk my way down to the lunch detention room. I told the student to sit his stuff down on the table, I fill out one of those little reports for the person watching them, then I exit right as the admin steps into the room. Apparently he knows this student and started asking questions like what are you doing here and after I left the room completely and was a little bit down the hall I heard him say "Well was it open?"
Basically he talked to the student one on one and tried to give him a pass from the detention however we only had about 5 or 10 minutes left in lunch anyway so I'm assuming that this student will not be serving anything tomorrow. Which makes me ask why the hell do you want me to be harsher in the lunchroom and then whenever I do it, you go in and then undermine my decisions. I should note that I'm not in charge of the lunch room during the time that I serve either. There are two other teachers whose job it is to discipline. And one of the lunches the man in charge does what he can and we don't have too many problems. And the other lunch our disciplinarian serves to be friends with all the students gives them a nice little chit-chat out in the hall, maybe sometimes a chewing out. But the end result is always the same. The student says yes sir, goes back to his friends or her friends, has a nice laugh about the little pull out, and then goes back to doing what they were doing. So why am I being told that I need to be more harsh than the lunch room but the person whose job it actually is doesn't get told anything different. And when I do exactly as you request, why are they going behind my back and completely undermining everything??? So either they don't trust my judgement, think I SHOULDN'T appear as having authority, or they want me to discipline some kids but not others.
