Question About Upgrading My Bedroom Studio
Hi everyone,
I am looking for some advice on taking the next steps to improve the quality of my home recordings. Currently I use a Line6 UX2 to route my guitar signal into my MacBook Pro, and use Logic Pro X as my DAW. I also record a bass and keyboard from time to time.
This has worked for a while, but I am not satisfied with the sound of my recordings, and feel like the UX2 might be the weakest link in the chain.
I am aware that possibly it is just my poor mixing techniques that contribute to this, but I was hoping for some more knowledgeable feedback.
What I am planning to do is the following: Buy 2 monitor speakers (considering Mackie CR4's) and upgrade my audio interface to something like a Scarlett Focusrite 2i2. In your opinions, would this lead to better-quality recordings?
Another question that I have is what are my options for amp modeling if I abandon the UX2? I don't have many pedals and have been relying on POD farm for my tones.
Any suggestions for upgrades (I don't want to spend more than $500-600 total) and comments on my current setup (specifically the Line6 UX2) would be immensely appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
