No opportunities to make friends

Long story short in high school I've been in the same small class of 15 people for 6 years long so I didn't get to know many people. Thought it would get better when I went to uni but turns out I only have to be there 3 hours a week, of which there's maybe 10 minutes after class to make small talk with people when you're walking out, and that's not nearly enough time to get to know someone. I joined a sports-club a couple of years ago but everyone in my group was from the same high school (and mostly same class) so I didn't fit in. Now I have no clue what to do. I have plans to join the faculty association and a sports-club for university students but they only take members in september. I can't wait that long.
