Is PSP still a solid choice for emulation in 2017?

For general portable Retro Emulation PS1 and before? I'm really wanting to get one due to its amazing library native ps1 support but i see people saying its obsolete and get a android, i know its old and newer mobile chips smokes it in performance but it still does the job, whats the general opinion?
