Can we talk about retirement options?
Hi everyone,
So I'm a little confused about the 401k vs Roth and Pre vs Post tax options, and everything else related regarding which is financially better (yielding you getting the most of your money after taxes).
Say I'm making 50k now and I think by the time I retire I'll be making say 150k, just for the sake of comparing tax brackets. Is it better for me to contribute post tax to get the taxes out of the way while I'm in a lower bracket or pretax because I'll be in a lower bracket when I'm actually retired and withdrawing? Is there a tipping point where one would be more beneficial than the other?
I know it's kind of a general question but any more specific information or links to related posts would help. I'm 22 and starting my career, just want to make sure I'm making the right retirement decisions.
