Is doubling up on tampons effective ???

I have a heavy flow right now and i ran out of super tampons so i put two regulars in at once, side by side. Will it not have the same effect as a super tampon? I know that blood is absorbed starting at the top of the tampon and as more accumulates it travels down to the end, closing in on the string. Will putting two in work the same?
