Starter Packages vs 10x Summon

I'm more interested in having a username I like (this one) vs a few 5* that may end up being godly/shit in the long run as the meta opens up to us. What would be your opinion on the matter? Good equipment and a guaranteed 5* and some gold seems very attractive, but I have no idea what the drop rate for 5* are.

Edit: it keeps track of "paid garnets" vs "free garnets", the packages will not be available with the garnets provided for free.
