Going from planned sets to free styling

Hey everyone! I'm still fairly new at djing but I live in the college party town of Isla Vista and have spun at a good amount of parties. My boyfriend has been djing for a good year and a half and when I decided I wanted to learn how to dj too, I was put out there and played at parties with him way before I was ready. That being said, I am really only comfortable with planning sets and making specific cues that work mostly for one specific song to another and then practicing that one set until we play at that party, and then making a new playlist for the next one. I have basically no knowledge on free styling and I want to be able to spin at a party last minute without needing days to plan a set, and be able to do b2bs as well.

I know practicing is the main answer to my question, but because I am a student and play at parties almost every weekend, the little free time I have is spent on creating a set list for that weekend instead of practicing free styling. Any tips would be greatly appreciated because summer is coming up and I will have a lot of time to practice.
