Makeup realities that nobody ever admits:
Working in beauty retail has opened my eyes to the fact that everyone wants an instant cheap fix to everything. And that pretty much never exists.
So, I'll start!
You can't cover skin texture with makeup. I'm not talking pores and fine lines, I'm talking wrinkles and cystic acne. You just can't.
Your hereditary dark circles cannot be taken away just by using an eye cream for a month.
You can't take away wrinkles with anything but your dermatologist.
Long wear lipsticks are drying. They also don't literally last 12 hours thru eating, drinking, and talking.
The Boscia black mask is not really meant for blackheads/pores. They hopped on the hype train after those viral fb videos started popping up. It's a luminizing mask.
You could buy that "beauty oil" on Amazon for like 1/4 the cost and double the amount of product.
There is no such thing as totally transfer-proof foundation. If you wear a surgical mask, if your work uniform requires a white shirt, if you touch your face all the time, the makeup is going to come off.
Covering up your tattoo looks extra fake in real life and smears all over everything.
Most techniques beauty gurus teach you are literally techniques invented by brands/sponsors in order to trick you into thinking you need more products.
Brushes matter but it's mostly technique.
GOLD IS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR SKIN.
Not everyone on Instagram is flawlessly airbrushed and insecure. A lot are, but some of them really are as "perfect" as they seem.
Your turn!!
