Shortwave control?

So I have a dream to make a solar powered rc blimp and fly it extremely far away from me. I heard that shortwave radio has essentially infinite range, and can go around the planet on a good day. Could I use shortwave on the blimp? How far away could I fly? Could I transfer image back? Video? How high fps could I get? How much power would the receiver need? How much trouble would I be in?
