Want to share my idea for backyard wedding
We're having a backyard wedding and our vision has shifted so many times from full blown caterer to food truck. We finally decided what we're going for and it's amazing and no more expensive than having a caterer. I'm a vendor at my towns famers market and questioned the hotdog/sausage/hamburger stand how much it would be to have him come out to feed people at my wedding and he said he does "cost-by-consumption" so I only pay what guests eat. This got me thinking... every vendor at the market is there to make money with little overhead. If I treat my wedding like a farmers market and have multiple vendors there with me pre-paying or footing the bill, that would be a sweet wedding!
So we've started to ask, and everyone seems receptive to coming out! We'll have food stations (tacos, burgers, fries etc) and people can wander around and have what they want. In addition to this we'll have a salad station that my parents will help with, and kegs and pop etc. It'll end up being as much as we were quoted for catering, it's more laid back, and I'm supporting local homemade businesses!
Thought I'd share the idea just in case anyone is hitting the roadblocks we hit trying to do a fun, casual, inexpensive party as a reception.
Also I'm going to get the vendors to wear cute aprons with our names and wedding date on them. I'm just getting crazy now.
