Unofficial Discord

So I saw on the other subreddit that they are starting an unofficial discord. Question for the mods--can we participate in both without getting banned from the official discord? I know there was something about people getting banned for participating in one of the unofficial discords. If I had to choose one, I'd choose the official one, but I just want to know so that I don't get banned again.
