The Look

HUMOR

Does any other CF couple get what I call The Look from parents?

The best example that I can come up with is this: The weekend before Halloween '15 my GF and I went to a local mall. We had no idea that we went on the day when stores gave out candy to kids in costume. It was filled with little kids and parents. Dismayed but not discouraged, we waded through the mess and did what we wanted to do (except the Disney store, for obvious reasons). One thing I noticed was The Look. It seemed like some parents noticed that as we walked, no kid or stroller anywhere, that we don't have kids. We look and are of prime child-bearing ages and life situations also. The Look is a combination of longing, regret, and desperation. It's mostly from men. It says, "Holy cats, they don't have kids. They're not forced to reason with hyper 5 year olds. They just walk with each other, no cares or stresses. Shoot, why didn't I think about this more?" Keep an eye out for it, especially when there's lots of families with young kids. It's amazing how much it conveys.
