Seeking opinions for my first truck

Life time car driver here, also a 20 y/o living in small town Missouri. I was thinking about buying my first truck, and having troubles deciding which to buy, thought I would ask you fine people.

I've been driving a Honda coup for the past 5 years, and I've been craving something with a V8 but I mainly want something with more function than a small car. I will mainly be using it for hauling furniture, being able to get around well in the snow, going camping on private land and what not (spending time in 4x4 environments) - so I've been looking at 4x4 trucks. I want something powerful, beautiful, rugged.

After plugging my specifications into Carfax, I keep eyeballing 2004-2008 Dodge Ram 1500's (5.7 hemi), and was wondering if I should pull the trigger and get one. I'm aware that I'll probably get some bias in the answers, but I was wondering if anyone could try to talk me out of it or talk me in to it - I'm not really sure what to get! Would that be a nice first-truck for a college kid?
