Broken DFS-R member

So, one of the rep groups in a client environment was showing the following error for a specific member of a rep group: The DFS Replication service stopped replication on the replicated folder at local path K:<Path>

Additional Information:
Error: 9098 (A tombstoned content set deletion has been scheduled)

So, I removed that server from the rep group membership, and deleted the dfsrprivate folder after the change replicated throughout AD. Then this morning one of the clients re-created the membership since my account apparently can't do that anymore after they neutered our regular admin accounts and created new server admin accounts that don't have the same permissions my regular admin account did/does have, so shoot me in the face. Anyway, after she added the server and folder back as a rep group member, we're still getting the error above, AND the dfsrprivate folder isn't being recreated. In the debug log I'm seeing the following:

[ERROR] ContentSetManager::Initialize Failed to initialize ContentSetManager csId:{AA33031F-AC3C-4AC0-9E20-8E9DC48E552E} csName:HP Support Pack rootPath:K:\<Path> state:InitialBuilding ptr:00000008B75F41A0 csInfoHistoryGuid:{2F04EEB5-8E21-435B-9974-00ACCEFD111F} Error:
ContentSetManager::CheckContentRoot contentsetmanager.cpp:5758 6288 C A tombstoned content set deletion has been scheduled]

So, the only thing I can think of right now is to remove this member from the rep group again, wait for AD replication to propagate throughout the network, and then re-add it but using a different folder on the server. So that DFS-R will hopefully see it as a brand new location, and actually add it and initialize it correctly. But, does anyone have any other ideas? They like to keep things standardized, and using a different folder will break that, but it probably won't be a huge deal, especially if it works.
