Any opinion on trading names that surprisingly and spectacularly shit the bed? Looking at X and STX

I'm looking at X and STX today. Two names that I've been selling ICs, spreads and naked positions on for a long time. Any data and/or opinion on whether selling a put spread today is better/worse?
