How do I update to Mac OS X 10.7 (at least)?

I'm currently trying to update my MacBook Pro (purchased in 2010). It's running on 10.6.8 right now, and I'm trying to update things like Flashplayer and other programs that have stopped working, but it saying they all need at least OS X 10.7. I tried to download the macOS Sierra, but that too says I need at least 10.7. What do I do?
