League Of MMA (The Future?)

So, it broke about a week or so ago that WSOF (World Series Of Fighting) will be rebranding itself and changing things up completely in there new endeavor entitled Professional Fighters League. This new adventure marks a new time in the young but growing sport of Professional Mixed Martial Arts. It's a first league. A whole new different system, and so much more. But, will it all be worth it? Let's dive in...

First off, there are some good things to come from this. The first: all fighters signed and fighting for this company will be getting paid monthly. Almost like a job. A salary if you will. That's great I think. (Depends how much of course.) Second, it's something new! A refresh. It's interesting. They're will be points, an off and on season, and a "World Series" at the send of the season. So that's pretty interesting. Also, this sport can only grow bigger if there are big time big pay organizations out there to get these fighters paid. If there is only one big company in the mix, the fighters get severely screwed with pay. But, if they are able to test the free market and free agents, then they can really see what they are worth and grow. Thus, the sport grows. But, there are a few cons to this and that's what we will get to...

First off, after announcing this interesting new idea and fight league, they never said what would happen to there current contracted fighters and champs. If you're going to go all in and give us the goods so to speak, you should give us the details. You don't have to give us the pay of the fighters (which they sort of did with the grand champ at the end of the series will get a million dollar bonus) but you should tell us the near future of not only your contracted fighters, but some of our favorite fighters. There is also no television company that will be broadcasting these fights as of yet. I'm sure that will change but none yet announced. The last one I will bring up and the most important to me is, I believe the sport of MMA doesn't really work light just any other sport. We have seen these type of events work before with a vary of success but none that stuck with the whole league and etc. also, the people that run the business can't sustain this company with just there means. If this will work out, they will need the full back up from the owners and holders, but also the fans. The fans... WSOF haven't been doing that great with views and so on. In fact, I think the company lost money. I know it's not easy to run a company especially a MMA pro company, but they aren't doing well. The last thing I would want to point out is that they are touting that they will grow and lead there fighters to UFC, but, they aren't affiliated with the UFC at all. Makes no sense.

Now, what I would like to see happen... I think it would be best if this company can affiliate themselves with the UFC by broadcasting their fights live and exclusive to the UFC Fight Pass. The Fight Pass has many different promotions that air live on there and that's great for the promotions, for the UFC, for us as paying subscribers to the content, and to the fighters. If they can do that, I think it could do wonders for everyone! They should also try to get some of these new free fighters. Get names, build your roster, build your fighters, and the views will come!

At the end, we do not know what will happen with this. It could turn out awesome but it would flop, I just hope as an unbiased fan of this great sport, that it can make it.

Signing off... Thank You.
