Transfer student questions

I am transferring to UConn Storrs from UMass Amherst in the fall and was curious about a few things:

1. I was admitted as an Econ major but I would like to switch to math with a concentration in actuarial science. Is this easy to do? Also, can I still sign up for an actuarial science class in the fall even if its not my major?

2. Where are the best places to live on campus? Are there dorm stereotypes? I like to party on the weekends and prefer larger buildings with lots of people.

3. How is the food?

4. How rigorous are the academics?
