Evaluating at tryouts

When coaches/captains/whoever evaluate at tryouts, they normally have a clipboard. I'm assuming it has everyone's name on it. But what else is written on the clipboard normally? A ranking scale? A +/-? Can someone who's ran tryouts before enlighten me?
