Am I Qualified to work in a lab?
I just graduated and am looking for a gap year job. I have done a year of research in a neuropsychology lab studying ADHD, but the research itself was based on administrating test batteries, nothing related to biology. I also did a few months of clinical research, but I was just timing a procedure. Both positions had me doing data collection and statistical analysis.
My goal is to find a position that will allow me to work with molecular biology techniques like PCR, though I am afraid that my background will make me appear that I am not qualified to work in a lab, especially because I graduated with a psychology degree. Though I was top in my class in biochemistry and physiology courses.
Do you guys think that I should keep searching for a position or just accept another job? I recently got an offer for a psych related job in at a hospital but I told them I needed a week to make the decision.
