Car Title

So today I went down to the good old DMV (after going yesterday waiting 2 hours then having to leave for work) and got my name and gender change. Process was real simple, had the option to renew or essentially do an edit of the license for cheaper but since my license is up in less than a year anyway I figure I save myself the trouble.

The relevant information in all of this is that I asked her about my car title since it's still in my old name along with my car insurance. She recommended I change my name in insurance first then come back to the DMV to change the name on the car title (which is free by the way). I guess if you do it the other way around insurance can get confused and it might mess up your policy or do other things you just don't want.

I didn't really see any info on here for vehicle registration so I figured I'd post and at least help out one other person. I live in New York State so this might be just a NYS thing, best bet is to probably call and ask the DMV just to be sure.
