Queue system proposal
Several posts have been made about this before.
The problem we want to fix is people being dissatisfied with team comps. Some people like playing with 3 dps others must have Reinhardt, no hanzo, etc.
The idea is you have hero picks prior to queueing. Pick your preferred hero #1and #2(optional) or no preference, then queue pops. Players get a table listing the hero choices. With the table up you can highlight which hero you intend on actually playing based on what everyone else picked. If you decide the team doesn't look good, you can decline and if you like it accept. No one is forced to play any hero it just helps group people with more synergy. The system can be designed to require 1 heal 1 tank 1 dps or can be tweaked other ways like prefer 222 comps.
You also provide a group chat so people can talk about their picks. And you can allow people to edit their hero choices at any point. People can discuss their picks, "genji will you switch if they counter you?", "no, I can play around winstons." The problem is having these discussions after you are already locked in a room with them as opposed to before you get locked in. One is a potentially a much bigger waste of time than the other.
Personally I get on ranked to practice about 2 heroes specifically. Other people just want to win. Some just want to practice 1 hero only. Some people will not ever play X hero. This system aspires to address these issues. Simply rolling the dice has proven to be infuriating.
It would be helpful as well to show the map (you play X hero on map A and not hero Y on B) but this can be exploited (Example: only play oasis) and mainly it overcomplicates the system. Keep in mind that cs go allows you to play any specific map competitively if you so wish. With the 3 new maps incoming at some point map pools will be a big topic of discussion . So blind map queue is imo the better way to go in accordance with the current system.
Lastly should we be able to inspect everyones career profile pre-game? I'm not sure this one is tricky. Without putting much thought into it yes. But I could see how win percentage discrimination could become an issue with inflating and what not. Example, I noticed my win percentage was 65 on soldier 76 now I try not to play him if I feel like we're going to lose.
Tldr: We don't want people to be forced to play lucio or Reinhardt let's get a system that finds an agreeable comp for us.
Do you think the rng system is fine? Do you want an intelligent system? Or do you want fast queues?
